The Truth About Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate
a.k.a. Sorting Fact from Fiction in Haircare
Hello, lovely Damila community!
We know how invested you are in ensuring the health and longevity of your Keratin treatments, and we appreciate the trust you place in our products. One question we've seen pop up in our community revolves around one particular ingredient: Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate. It might sound a lot like a sulfate, but it’s a completely different ingredient.
Let's clear up the confusion!
🌼 What is Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate?
First and foremost, Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate is NOT a sulfate. It's a gentle cleaning agent, specifically designed to cleanse your hair without stripping away its natural oils and moisture. In simpler terms, it keeps your hair feeling soft, nourished, and healthy.
🌼 Why the name confusion?
We totally get it, the names do sound similar! But in the world of chemistry, slight differences in names can mean totally different things. It's like comparing butter with buttermilk – they might sound alike, but they serve different purposes in our kitchen.
The INCI (International Nomenclature Cosmetic Ingredient) name for SULFATE reads: Sodium Lauryl Sulfate (which we don't use in our shampoo).
🌼 Just to reiterate:
Our Salt and Sulfate-free Shampoo & Conditioner do NOT contain Sodium Lauryl Sulfate, which is the ingredient you'd want to avoid after a Keratin treatment. Instead, we chose Disodium Laureth Sulfosuccinate because of its gentle and hair-loving properties.
Thank you for being an informed and engaged part of our community. We're always here to answer your questions and ensure you have the best hair day, every day!
With love and shine,
